1 Juan 2:4-6

Judas 1:21-23

conservaos en el amor de Dios, esperando la misericordia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo para vida eterna. A algunos que dudan, convencedlos. A otros salvad, arrebatándolos del fuego; y de otros tened misericordia con temor, aborreciendo aun la ropa contaminada por su carne. (Judas 1:21-23 RVR60)

The Narrow and Wide Gates

Narrow and wide gates – we are creatures of comfort. At work I’ve personally been wasting time worrying about the soon to come commuting situation when we move to our new office building in April. I’m comfortable where I am now, why would they choose that building, why LIC, why not Rockaway or closer to the airport. I could come up with a bunch of excuses as to why not LIC.. why why why… I forget or block out that I will still have a job with a great company, in New York, still in Queens, one that will help provide for my family, that puts food on the table, that let’s me travel and see places I would otherwise not get the opportunity to see.

 

It’s the same in our Christian walk we prefer the comfort minus the work it takes to get to the promises our Lord has made. Of an eternity with Him and peace if we keep our eyes fixed on Him. Rather we chose to complain, make excuses, stay comfortable, to just get by with the bare minimum. Whether that be at school, work, in our relationships and with Him. Why do all the extra work if we see others prosper and don’t ‘see’ them put any work in. It’s an attitude of I’ll put in if I see immediate results that conform to what I want only, we don’t get it at times, we love excuses. My wife and I have gone through this with the kids; do we really want to try and save up for that one last excuse on our day of judgment?? Let’s do the work as the road may be narrow but it will lead us to eternal life with our Creator one who does not like the lukewarm ways of comfort.

Deuteronomio 4:9

Jeremías 33:2, 3

Romanos 8:35,38 & 39
